I just drove four hours in a rain/sleet/snow storm to help my friend pick up a 1980 Williams Black Knight.
He unexpectedly won it in an auction so we got up at 6 am and headed down I91 and then on to I84 to rural New York in “horse country” to an impressive house in the country with a gated driveway, beautiful landscaping and a pool in the backyard.
There were already a few cars of auction winners waiting for the auction people. They were there to pick up a smoker, sports memorabilia, pool table, coins, currency and even silver bars.
The auctioneer says to us “hey what do you do with those pinballs? Play them or fix them up and sell them?”
Play them we said! I think he was fishing to see if pinball machines are valuable or something.
T has a few other projects ahead of the Black Knight restore but when it gets finished, no doubt this will be a headliner in his collection.
That was some drive! The white knuckle moments on the way back with all the people playing pinball with cars…..
