Cape Cod can be a bit overwhelming at first.  It’s a large area and your first introduction to the place is via traffic congested bridges and highways with not much to see.  But if you get off the main drag and start to explore, you’ll find all kinds of treasures to explore with your camera.  Here are some suggestions for finding some great locations for your photography.

Beaches

Cape Cod has no shortage of public and private beaches to explore.  Some even have lighthouses, shack shacks, seals, and more to explore.  Check them out early in the morning or at sunset for the best light and the least amount of people.

Around Town

Classic old cottages lined up on the beach, historical buildings, cluttered waterfront jumbles of stores, shops, clubs and rental homes – all kinds of great angles and compelling compositions can be found around the historical old towns of Cape Cod.  These old building attracted the attention of painter Edward Hopper.  Hopper spent nearly 40 summers on the outer cape painting in the towns of Truro, Wellfleet and Provincetown.  Many of the same scenes Hopper painted can still be seen in the area.
