DIY | Make a $20 Dust Collector

Last summer of my pandemic projects was insulating and drywall my garage. The idea was to protect my cars from the harsh New Hampshire winters and provide some workshop space if needed for my vintage pinball restoration projects and possible space for my artist son’s projects.

I got the project about 95% done before not being able to wait any longer to begin my pinball project – https://www.dogfordstudios.com/pandemic-project-restoring-a-vintage-pinball-machine/

Once the weather warms up a bit I’m going to tackle the last bit of the project – cleaning out some more junk and finish taping, mudding and painting the drywall.

I’m not look forward to awkwardly sanding the plaster by hand or cleaning up the dust. This time I’ve invested in a pole mounted electric sander that should make the project quicker, easier and less messy.

This electric drywall sander is suitable for beginners, households, or professional sanding jobs. It is robust and sturdy with a metal body. It provides efficient sanding performance with a large power motor and adjustable variable speed. It is easy to operate with a special telescope frame and ergonomic design of handles. Smooth your wall from rough texture and uneven bumps.

Now this electric drywall ceiling and wall sander won’t capture all of the dust so I’m thinking of hooking up one of my box fans to a filter like this video shows. Just adding some circulating air going through a filter should remove more dust from the air, especially if I direct the air out the front of the garage.
