Electric Scooters – a fun way to get around in a city

The last time I visited Washington, D.C. I decided to try out some of the rental scooters scattered around the Mall. At least five different vendors had scooters including Uber and Bird. I signed up for Lime account and downloaded their app. How did I pick Lime? I don’t know, I thought the logo was cool. Here I am zipping around the various sites on The Mall at our nation’s capital.

The cool thing about electric scooters is they are very compact, you drive them basically standing up, you can mingle in with crowds of people, travel up to about 12 mph, they fold up for storage and the charge lasts a long time.

The downside of scooters is their small wheels. Not only are they small but often they are made from hard materials instead of being inflated. So as you can imagine, bumps, potholes, curbs or even cracks in the sidewalk should be avoided and you should wear a helmet.
