Expecting the Unexpected In Maui, Hawaii

Traveling to Hawaii for a photo shoot, I expected certain things – surfers, tropical rain-forests, waves, beaches – but in my typically quirky fashion, I found a lot of unexpected subjects also.

Abandoned Airstream travel trailers from the 1940s, cars destroyed by surfers because it broke down blocking the road to the local surf beach, old Model T Ford’s being consumed by the jungle. Fences made from discarded surfboards.

Sure I found the lagoons, the beaches, the two scoop lunches, the poke, the hula dancers, the surfers, the tropical beauty, the beautiful sandy beaches, but I’m always got an eye out for bringing back something a little different. Perhaps something that usually goes unnoticed.
