Friday night cocktail!
Blame it on the weather, blame it on the lingering evening sunlight, blame it on Rio … tonight I’m in the mood for green.
Our cocktail is a Chartreuse Martini, herbal and spicy, with a bite that lasts only for the first sip. The many layers of flavor in tonight’s glass will keep your palate curious for what’s next. Imagine if moss dampened by the dew, a few stray pine needles and a red peppercorn met at the bar and created a drink… which was then served to you by a very sincere garden gnome.
Thank you, Mother Nature.
Make one yourself!
- 1 1/2 oz gin
- 1/2 oz green Chartreuse
- 1/2 oz dry vermouth
- Stir all ingredients in a mixing glass full of ice.
- Strain into glass.
- Smile at your neighbor as you sip. Cheers!
This week’s cocktail features the amazing Green Chartreuse liquor. The only liquor that inspired the name of a color. Chartreuse is a French liqueur available in green and yellow versions that differ in taste and alcohol content.
The liqueur has been made by the Carthusian Monks since 1737 according to the instructions set out in a manuscript given to them by François Annibal d’Estrées in 1605. 130 herbal ingredients go into each batch of Chartreuse which gives it that unique herbal flavor.
