We’ve owned a Meural Canvas (original version) for a number of years now and we love it. We basically use it to display our own photographs but it can be used to subscribe to changing artwork.
Recently I upgraded our WiFi network to a mesh network by Asus:
This ASUS ZenWiFi AX6600 Tri-Band Mesh WiFi 6 System (XT8 2PK) is great but of course, I changed the WIFI login and password so all of the devices I had connected to the WIFI had to be reset.
Some devices like computers and phones were easy. Even the Blink security cameras were easy to reconnect. But while trying to reset the Meural Canvas using the frustrating swipe method, the instructions said to “remove all connections” which caused the canvas to freeze on a setup screen.
Online help suggested unplugging the canvas for 20 seconds and then plugging it back in. This did not work.
Next, they suggested unplugging, locating the reset button on the back, and holding it in for 20 seconds as the canvas is plugged back in.
This just brought up the set up screen again.
Finally, I went to the app and choose “add new Meural Canvas” and proceeded to go through the entire setup procedure which includes:
- Enter the product number (or QR code if there is one) from the back.
- Connecting to the Meural Canvas network.
- And then connecting to the WiFi network
Voila! it worked again and kept all of the images and features from my account. The lesson learned that isn’t so obvious is that when you do the reset, you basically have to start the setup process from the beginning using the app.
Changing WiFi Networks on a Meural Canvas
You’d think it would be easy to change a WiFi Network on a Meural Canvas if you move or change your WiFi network’s name and password — but nooooo!
You have to unregister the canvas and then go through the start-up sequence again. Here is another method.
By the way, we used this system to conceal the wire from the outlet to the frame.
