It takes all kinds of critters to make Farmer Vincent Fritters.
Back in my college days when we were poor as hell, we’d rent, yes rent, a VCR from the local video rental store and grab a pile of movies. We’d raid the horror and cult section for obscure, wacked out movies that went well with weekend binge drinking. Some of most memorable flicks were the cheap horror movies that bordered on comedy – The Evil Dead, Basket Case and the classic Motel Hell.

We were still in high school when Motel Hell came out in 1980. A low budget movie that probably didn’t have much of a distributure beyond the grindhouse and drive in circuits but video stores gave such movies a second life.
United Artists marketed “Motel Hell” as a straightforward horror film rather than a black comedy/horror film, fearing that any quirkiness in the theatrical trailers or the theatrical release posters would drive away potential audiences. However, the tagline “You might just die…laughing!” still appeared on several of the aforementioned theatrical release posters.
Checking in is easy…Checking out is hell! You really are what you eat with Farmer Vincent’s smoked meat in this creepy horror yarn which “packs a punch that goes way beyond mere terror” (Boxoffice).
Vincent’s popular products contain a special ingredient that the psychotic farmer and his sister would literally kill to keep a secret!
Starring Rory Calhoun (Angel), Nancy Parsons (Porky’s), Nina Axelrod (Time Walker, Cobra) and John Ratzenberger (Cheers), and directed by Kevin Connor (From Beyond the Grave, At the Earth’s Core), this darkly funny flick “just might be your cup of meat” (L.A. Herald Examiner)!
