Planning a long road trip can be tricky for photographers. You want to the best spots at the golden hour. Late in the day when the light is at its most beautiful time. Of course this conflicts with actual travel time, not spending too long at the last place and of course the competing forces of fatigue and hunger. Plus the discomfort of your traveling companions. It’s a delicate balance which sometimes comes all together to create a magical experience like the time we spent at the Grafton Ghost Town outside of Zion National Park in Utah.
The place was deserted except for a couple of other explores of the past, and the sun was just setting. We were able to get in our shots and still make it to dinner by convincing the Whiplash Restaurant in Springdale to let us in for a final burrito and brew of the night.
