The Monster Book of Monsters, by Edwardus Lima, is a particularly vicious textbook that is used in Care of Magical Creatures while Rubeus Hagrid (who thought the book’s aggressive nature was funny) was the teacher.
The book is quite informative, but one usually finds it difficult to access the information within due to the book’s unfortunate tendency to try and bite off the reader’s fingers. The only way to subdue the book is to stroke its spine, upon which the book opens placidly.
The Hogsmeade Post Office is a building in the village of Hogsmeade that houses at least two–to–three–hundred owls, ranging from Great Grey Owls to tiny Scops (the latter for “local deliveries only”), hooting down from color-coded shelves. The shelves are colour-coded based on how quickly they will arrive at their destination.
“The castle is a stronghold of ancient magic.”
—Albus Dumbledore regarding the ancient castle
Hogwarts Castle is a large, seven-storey high building supported by magic, with a hundred and forty two staircases throughout its many towers and turrets and very deep dungeons. The castle was built in the late Early Middle Ages (c. 993) by a wizard architect and the four most celebrated wizards of the age: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin. The castle houses Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, regarded as the finest wizarding school in the world.
Zonko’s Joke Shop was a favorite place for Hogwarts students to shop on Hogsmeade trips as it carried “jokes and tricks to fulfill even Fred and George Weasley’s wildest dreams.” Such products were Dungbombs, Hiccough Sweets, Frog Spawn Soap, Sugar Quills and Nose-Biting Teacups.
