Our Sony BRAVIA (2018) XBR-65X850F has had sound issues. For a while it has been dropping audio and now it’s not playing sound when streaming.
At first I thought it was our home theater receiver because it kept clicking on and off at random. But the more likely suspect is the TV. The cable box plays sound without any issue while the TV only place sound through the built in speakers and not over the ARC HDMI connection.
So basically everything plugged into the receiver is working fine. I tried doing a factory reset and reinstalling all the apps but that didn’t help.
My solution is to take the streaming away from the TV and use my favorite streaming device, the Roku with it’s nice simple remote and interface.
