Sears Arcade Pinball Circa 1979

Arcades were hot in the 1970s. Several companies such as Brunswick and Sears came with home versions of pinball. Bally even brought out a few home versions of their popular games like “Fireball”.

They were cheap and stripped down of mechanics and features. The playfields were thin. They were made to last as long as a child’s interest – i.e. probably as long as the Christmas break.

You see them on the used market, sometimes the sellers confuse them with the real deal and try to get a high price. But collectors shy away from these as they are hard to get parts for and the gameplay is dull. Lack of a coin door is the tip-off that it’s a home version game. Value – under $100 to free.
