Solar Powered Water Fountain – Due to high bear activity this year, our community has outlawed bird feeding for the summer. Bummer! But what we’ve found is that having a yard with lots of different plants and vegetation, you can attract birds without a birdfeeder.
To get birds closer, a bird bath is a great feature that doesn’t attract bears or squirrels. To make our birdbath even more fun, and attractive to birds like hummingbirds, we added a bit of magic with a solar-powered water fountain.
We found that hummingbirds especially like to fly around in the mist from the bird bath water fountain.
We purchased this Mademax Solar Fountain (Upgraded Solar Bird Bath Fountain with 4 Easy Install Nozzle and Fixer, Solar Powered Fountain Pump for Bird Bath, Garden, Pond, Pool, Fish Tank, Outdoor) to be perfect. It comes with a variety of nozzles for different water patterns and has a power setting for high to low-water shoots. In full sun the fountain can shoot rather far into the air. We had to keep it lower to keep the water in our basin!
As far as the bird bath itself, we are using a simple galvanized round shallow “bucket” on top of an overturned plant pot.
