The new Canon EOS RP mirror-less full-frame camera renders this Canon Accessory obsolete. Consider a savings of $134 built-in to the price of the Canon EOS RP because it can do everything this accessory via internal software settings.
What does the TC-80N3 do?
This is the official (i.e. expensive) Timer Remote Controller, used as a shutter release and as an interval timer for things like time-lapse photography and long exposures.
- Ideal for time-lapse photography including blooming flowers and astrophotography
- Remote switch with a 2.6-foot cord
- Self-timer, interval timer, long-exposure timer and exposure-count setting features
- Easily enter the numeric settings with a single thumb
- LCD panel can also be illuminated
Why it’s not need with the Canon EOS RP
The new entry-level full-frame mirror-less camera from Canon, the EOS RP thankfully includes these features that replace the need for an external timer remote controller accessory:
- Built-in interval timer
- Built-in 4K time-lapse movie mode (with different time-lapse scenarios)
These features make my fellow photo blogger and time lapse creator
Matthew Vandeputte a happy man:
“Not only does it have the 4K Timelapse movie mode (just like my trusty 6DMkII, it spits out a rendered 4K video file with

Paired with the built-in intervalometer this tells me that Canon is taking time-lapse cinematography seriously on their new cameras and that makes me a happy man. “
