Desert Botanical Garden – Phoenix, Arizona
The DBG is the crown jewel of Phoenix’s collection of museums and attractions. It has something for all ages. Paths through acres of meticulously collection, arranged and maintained gardens of plant that love the hot, dry desert climate.
The Phoenix area no doubt attracts plenty of snowbirds and retirees from colder climates and the Desert Botanical Garden showcases what one can do with native plants instead of trying to say, grow New England plants that require lots of water.
From the whimsical Entry Garden with it’s layering of prickly pears, organ pipes and cholla cactus to the Sororan Desert Loop Trail to the Cactus and Succulent Gallery, the Desert Botanical Garden provides plenty of room to explore. And when you need a break there is a snack bar or a more formal restaurant on the property.
At night the garden stays open late and becomes a artsy light show called Las Noches De Las Luminarias and Devour. The Electric Dream is a light and sound experience with seven site-specific locations.
