How do you clean a stovetop?
How do you clean a countertop?
How do you clean an appliance?
How do you clean a boat?
I won’t say that cleaning is fun but it can be very satisfying, especially if you find a product that works well and makes the job easier. Having freshly cleaned a kitchen or bathroom makes one feel like they’ve accomplished something and who doesn’t like a sparkly clean kitchen, bath or even boat, car, hot tub, countertop, oven, refrigerator, etc.
The Pink Stuff are (amongst other ingredients) benzisothiazolione, laurylamine dipropylendiamine, methylisothiazolinone, and perfume. Rather odorless —a nice change from noxious oven cleaners like “Easy Off”.
The Pink Stuff has received over 162,637 ratings on Amazon and gets a 4.5-star review!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a product with so many positive ratings. People love this stuff.
“I got this because I kept reading that it was amazing. I hoped it was because I hate scrubbing! I figured I would give it a real test on my stove. After all the holiday cooking, my stove top needs attention. I wipe it after each use, but it still needed a real cleaning.
I first tried it on the grate parts of my gas stove. It got off some, but those burnt on spots didn’t budge. I rubbed on it (in photo) for 2 full minutes (I timed it) and they’ were still there. This was one-eigth section of one grate..I didn’t want to deal with that for 7 more sections just on this one grate. So I got out the razor blade. My fingers thanked me. It took 10 seconds to get that off. I used a combination of this and the razor for the rest.
I realize that not everything can be scraped (even lightly like I did) so on the underside, I used a plastic knife and pink stuff. Not perfect, but it helped more (I posted pictures of that too.)
On the burner part, I again rubbed the crap of that with a scrubbie sponge and pink stuff. Again, it was better, but not clean. I tried Mother’s Mag and Aluminum Polish on it after, and it got much better. (I put those photos on my review, too.)
For my regular stove top, the pink stuff worked pretty good, better than the magic eraser. Here and there some spot would need the plastic knife (or the edge of an old credit card) or even the light scrape of the razor blade. But this pink stuff was pretty good, especially in corners shere I couldn’t scrape. Still had to rub a lot though.
Overall, I like it, but wasn’t amazed. It feels like a cream with some pumice or something, like a thick soft scrub. The aluminum polish feels less grainy, and doesn’t scratch. But still works (again with rubbing.) That brand makes polish for other metals, but I only have aluminum (which I have used on chrome and some other stuff, too and it works beautifully.)”
What’s the secret of The Pink Stuff?
Similar to The Magic Erasers (basically a very fine sandpaper) and Bar Keeper’s Friend, The Pink Stuff includes some mild abrasive powder in the formula. So you do have to put some thought into what you use it on.
After spending hours cleaning a gas stove top the other day, I’d was ready to try anything. I used Dawn dish detergent, 30% industrial strength vinegar and baking soda and Bar Keeper’s Friend. Nothing made a dent in the baked-on grease. I finally had to scrape it off with a razor blade. Wish I had some The Pink Stuff around to try it out.
