Working with Dog Models

Like human models, dog models come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and personalities.  Not all dogs are perfectly behaved like Tiki the Supermodel.

Take this cute little hairless rescue dog for example.  Eva is a sweet little thing but so very timid.

Eva plays the part of a dog at the vet reacting to a cold stethoscope.  https://edward-fielding.pixels.com/featured/hey-watch-it-thats-cold-edward-fielding.html

Eva was so nervous we had to work one of her owners into a lot of the shots we planned for the photo shoot.   But look at her range!  She can play surprise to sadness.

Eventually Eva started to enjoy her photo shoot and especially the treats but she always had an eye on one of her owners.

The Eva photo shoot was part of a series of dog photographs I’ve worked on over the past several years.

Dog photo shoots can be tricky, you never know how the dog will react to the camera, the strange photographer and the studio lights.  It’s especially difficult with to many people in the room.  Just like at the vet when they take the dog away from the owner to perform procedures like nail clipping or shots, it might be a good idea to have the owner out of room.
